Hi there.
Test prep is never easy. I know this because not that long ago, I was an anxious 16-year old studying for the SAT and ACT myself. These tests have changed a lot in the decade since then, and I have been teaching them every step of the way. Wherever you are in your college application process, I can help.
My name is Sophia Petros. I have been tutoring since 2011, specializing in SAT and ACT prep since 2017. For the last four years, I've worked with ArborBridge, named the "best online tutoring service" by Business Insider. My tutoring style is results-driven, personalized, and sometimes a bit fun. Along with the SAT and ACT, I have also tutored students in college-level calculus, AP Spanish, TOEFL/IELTS, and other school subjects. In addition to my experience as a private test-prep tutor, I have taught in a variety of capacities: elementary-school classroom volunteer, teacher and English-language tutor to refugees, and university-level teaching assistant. Wherever I go, I teach.
I am currently pursuing a J.D. at Columbia University School of Law in conjunction with a Master of International Affairs at Columbia SIPA. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University in 2020 with a B.A. in Global Politics & Art and a B.A. in the History of Art and Architecture. In high school, I graduated Cum Laude and I was the President of National Honor Society, as well as a member of the Spanish Honor Society and Math Honor Society. I was a three-sport athlete and captain of the Varsity Soccer and Varsity Softball teams. I earned scores of 5 on the AP Comparative Government, AP U.S. Government, AP U.S. History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP English Language, AP English Literature, and AP Spanish Language exams. In high school, I scored a 35 on the ACT.
